Full head colour and Layered Bob hair cut

The client came in for a full head colour and hair cut. She was a busy mum and didn't have a lot of time to spend styling her hair, but she wanted it quite a bit shorter and also wanted to cover the grey hair.  I suggested we use a brown tint similar to her natural base but also with some red tones in it to give a nice shine and a bit of warmth. After colouring the hair I cut it into a nice layered bob so it would be easy for her to manage. She was really pleased with the results and is now a regular client. I was really happy with the end result I think it really suited her.

Uniform layer cut and and set in rollers

#

The client wanted a little trim all over, her hair was quite thin and she liked it to be set in rollers to make it look more full. I still find cutting hard but I feel like each time I do it I am getting a bit better. I enjoyed putting the rollers in but found the pins kept popping out all the time. The client was really pleased with her hair and I think it looked nice too

Competition (Wizard of Oz)

We had a competition in college where we had one hour to style the hair to a theme of our choice. We were able to prepare the models clothes and makeup before but only had one hour for the actual hairstyle. We also had to design a mood board to show our ides and inspirations for the style. I chose The Wizard of Oz as my theme and used my little girl as my model. First I curled all the hair and then backcombed it to add some volume this was supposed to be like the cowardly lion I then used a yellow hair piece and plaited it right down the hair and this was the yellow brick road finally I put lots of straw in the curls for the scarecrow and completed the look by putting her in a Dorothy outfit. It was very nerve racking doing the competition and I finished with only 3 minutes to spare but I was really glad I took part.

Really long blow dry

The client found it difficult to blow dry her own hair as it was extremely long so she asked if I could blow dry it really straight for her. I really enjoyed doing this but it was tricky as it was so long. I decided to use a paddle brush and this gave a really smooth shiny finish

Afro-Caribbean hair

The client came in for a one length cut and blow dry I was terrified when I saw her hair as I had never worked with afro-Caribbean hair before. Her hair was very damaged as she used hair straighteners a lot so I suggested we do an intensive conditioning treatment first. After the conditioning treatment the hair was much easier to comb I had to hold the hair really firmly to keep it straight but it was really tricky to cut as the hair was curling round my fingers. I managed the cut and afterwards I applied a leave-in conditioner before blow drying the clients hair. I was so nervous at first but I found it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and now I would feel a lot more comfortable doing afro-caribbean hair in future.

All over colour very curly hair

The client wanted an all over colour I decided to go for a Quasi as she was a young client and didn't have any grey hair. She had very curly hair which was tricky to section so I made sure the hair was well combed before I started and made sure my sections were really neat when I applied the colour. I then cut her hair in a long graduation I found it quite tricky as her hair was so curly so I made sure I kept her hair really wet and used a lot of tension. The client always had her hair curly as she found it really hard to style it herself so she asked me if I could blow dry it straight for her. This took a little while but I was getting used to working with curly hair so I was a bit more confident this time. When I had finished I was really proud of myself this was the first time I had coloured cut and styled the hair all at the same time, it did take a while but the client was so pleased at the end that it was worth it.
